Pacific Coast Mental Health Scholarship

Pacific Coast Mental Health is offering a $600 essay scholarship, which will be awarded in September 2025. Read on to learn more details about the scholarship, how to enter, and the qualifications.

If you have any questions, please DO NOT contact our treatment center. It is a helpline for individuals seeking mental health support. Please direct any inquiries to scholarship@pacificcoastmh.com.

Why Are We Offering a Scholarship?

At Pacific Coast Mental Health, we understand that mental health challenges can significantly impact not only individuals but also their loved ones and friends. These struggles can make it difficult to focus on personal goals, plan for the future, and manage the financial burdens of attending college. Because of this, we want to support those who are not only receiving mental health treatment but also those who have been affected by mental health challenges and are looking to brighten their future.

If you are attending college or planning to start in Fall 2025, we encourage you to review the requirements and essay prompt below.

How To Enter

The Steps

  1. Write a 700-word essay on the following prompt:
“Sometimes, healing doesn’t come from words alone. Tell a story — real or imagined — about how physical activity or music helped someone cope with mental health struggles or addiction. Whether it’s dancing through depression, running off anxiety, or finding peace through a favorite song, show how rhythm and movement can spark hope, change, and recovery.”

    Tips for Writers:

    • Describe the emotional transformation that happens through music or physical activity.
    • Explore the connection between body, mind, and soul.
    • Use vivid imagery — make us feel the beat, the breath, the breakthrough.
    • You can write a story, a personal essay, a spoken word poem, or creative nonfiction.

  2. The last day to submit your essay will be August 5th.
  3. The winner will be contacted by September 20th.
  4. If you are not contacted, unfortunately, we were unable to offer you the scholarship.
  5. The winner will be featured on our social media and blog, and we will be congratulating them.

The contents of the winner’s essay will not be publicly shared.
